Material Play workshop

The purpose of the workshop is to explore in praxis the relations between materiality and play, by playing around with materials and trying to formulate what turns a material into a plaything, and if there is some way of formalizing that turning point.

In groups, participants will be asked to select 2 or 3 materials (provided by the organizers), to discover if and how they are turned into playthings. Groups will be asked to describe and formalize the material and contextual triggers for play.

goals: describe material play triggers, defining the intertwined roles of materiality, context, and culture, in the experience of play.
